David Maloney joined TRIMCO in February 2008 as Director of Engineering and Operations. He is a Mechanical Engineer (U.C. Santa Barbara) with over 27 years experience in manufacturing in the aerospace, automotive and door hardware industries. David came to TRIMCO after 10 years with Schlage Lock Co. He is devoted to his family, which includes his wife, one teenager and two young adults. When David is not at TRIMCO he spends time with his family, cooking, restoring cars or playing golf. Hurd Windows & Doors plans to move 90 employees from its Merrill, WI plant to its Medford, WI plant by the end of year as a way to plan for future expansion. Dominic Truniger, the company president, said Hurd’s parent company, Longroad Asset Management, LLC, recently approved a multi-million dollar investment to upgrade their manufacturing facilities, which would allow the company to create better, energy-efficient windows and to start making entrance doors for homes, reported Wausau Daily Herald. Cie. Saint-Gobain SA, Europe’s biggest glassmaker, is turning to electrically charged “smart” windows to counter slumping sales and fulfill European Union energy-saving norms. Glass that alters tint or emits heat and light at the flick of a switch may bring in annual sales of 150 million euros ($213 million) within five years, said Thomas Bertin-Mourot, head researcher and marketer of the Paris-based company’s Quantum Glass unit, reported Bloomberg.com. Simonton Windows is recalling 263 West Virginia workers who have been laid off since late 2008. In addition, the company will hire 25 more people.
