DHI Offers Opportunity for Companies to Showcase Products on the Cover of Doors & Hardware

Want the best advertising spot in the magazine – free of charge? Just imagine your company products on the cover of Doors & Hardware magazine! Free! We are pleased to announce the 9th Annual Doors & Hardware Cover Photo Search. Manufacturers in the architectural openings industry are encouraged to submit photos for consideration as covers for the 2010 issues of Doors & Hardware magazine.

This is a great opportunity for companies to show off their products in the only magazine devoted to the architectural openings industry. Doors & Hardware reaches over 20,000 readers—there’s no better way to get exposure this extensive. Our inside and back cover space sells for thousands of dollars, but with the right photo, you can occupy the most visible page of the magazine for free.

Photo Search Guidelines: Photos must be of high quality and professional in nature. We prefer digital images (preferably EPS or TIF files that are at least 300 dpi) sent via e-mail or on CD/DVD. Submissions become property of DHI and will not be returned. The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2010.

Entries for the contest cannot be promotional in any way: no brand names, no company names or logos, and no slogans or product claims. We are looking for material that displays products and/or product applications in an artful, objective, generic manner.

Photographs will be judged by the DHI Publications Department based on aesthetic quality and thematic relevance. Winners will grace the front covers of our 2010 issues, and photo suppliers will be acknowledged on the title page of the issue on which the photo appears. Winners will not be notified in advance. Please be sure to include details on what product appears in the photo as well as photographer credit information.

Want additional FREE exposure in the magazine? Become a Doors & Hardware author!  Doors & Hardware is an invaluable tool for industry professionals; our articles serve to further the educational goals of DHI as well as promote successful business strategies. With each article published, you have the opportunity to offer your peers unique insight into the latest industry trends and demonstrate your expertise to your end users. Those of you in DHI’s continuing education program can earn CEP points. Though feature articles must be non-promotional, publication in Doors & Hardware magazine is a great way to get your company’s name out to the industry.

NAPCO Introduces New Indoor/Outdoor Gemini BioReader Keypad

Napco recently added its first ever indoor/outdoor biometric keypad to its line of Gemini products. With the touch of a finger, end-users can integrate our BioReader keypad with most brands of alarm panels with a keyswitch or use it for standalone alarm and garage door access control. BioReader works with all Gemini and Express security systems (3 and 4-wire bus) and operates electric garage doors and lighting systems with ease. Users can arm/disarm the system and/or activate relay groups with the touch of a button and never have to worry again about losing their keys or memorizing complicated codes. The optical biometric fingerprint reader eliminates code pass-along and ensures reliable use by those considered hard to print, such as consumers whose fingerprints are worn out such as manual laborers, elderly, etc. 3-way “live” finger detection verification thwarts use by imposters using photocopies or fake rubber impressions while anti-substitution prevents unauthorized keypad replacement.

Audible and visual indicators like our Piezo sounder prompts/feedback and ready LEDs plus a bio-feedback indicator alerts users of the keypad’s armed status. In high traffic environments such as entrances to busy office buildings, BioReader includes Stealth/Blanking Mode for no-show alarm status LEDs. This feature reveals alarm status only to authorized users without arming/disarming first. The alarm status captured in BioReader’s memory is automatically displayed with an LED indicator as a precautionary warning to returning visitors before they enter.
